This week, it snowed for the first time this winter and it reminded me, how near christmas is already! Time to buy, or even better, to make gifts for the ones we love and care about. Here are some ideas I collected for you:
♥ Insect Hotel
Insect Hotels are great for bringing more life to your garden. They not only provide shelter for the smallest creatures, but will also attract more birds to the garden, keeping a healthy environment. And they make great gifts for any garden lovers! There are a lot of different choices when you buy an insect hotel, or you can make one yourself (like I tried to last year). Check out this video link for some inspiration.
♥ Water bottle made of glass
I’ve been mentioning the water bottles of Lifefactory more than once on my blog, but I have to do it again because I really love them! They make a wonderful gift because they are healthy for us and the environment. Another bonus: they look cute!
♥ DIY flavored sugar
How about a sweet greeting from the kitchen? Flavored sugar doesn’t only look pretty but also functions as a delicious treat. Use it to sprinkle on cookies and cupcakes or to flavor tea. Check out these DIY ideas from Style Me Pretty and Cityglamblog and try to use organic & fair trade ingredients to make it even more special.
♥ Solar Charger
I’m not a tech geek but this is seriously cool! Plug your device to the XDDesign Solar Charger and stick it to the window so it can soak up the sun. Great gift for tech and solar energy fans.
♥ Necklace made from recycled silver
Or how about a cute eco friendly necklace made of reclaimed silver? Lulu Bug jewelry has a lot of sweet ones to choose from.
♥ Chocolate Dipped Nuts
This is a simple but delicious DIY treat idea. It makes such a pretty gift and you can make it with all kinds of nuts. This idea comes from the blog Good Life Eats
♥ Seedbombs
I love the idea of using seedbombs to create more biodiversity in your neighborhood. And what a fun gift idea! There is a great seedbomb kit by GreenAid or you can make them yourself using seeds, clay and soil. Here are some DIY instructions via Good Housekeeping (english) and Utopia (german)
♥ Lush Soap
Have you tried the (vegan) North Pole soap from Lush yet? It smells like peppermint, perfect for the wintertime!
♥ Organic Cotton Scarf
A scarf always makes a lovely gift. Even more so when it’s organic, vegan and chemical free. I found this adorable one on Etsy, made by Djuna Shay
♥ Non Toxic Nail Polish
Scotch nail polish are toxic free and vegan and come in some great colors. They would surely make some of your girlfriends happy!
♥ Planetarium or Museum Voucher
Gifts don’t always have to be material. They can also be an experience. And by going to the planetarium, to a botanical garden or a museum, your friends and family can enjoy the gift of inspiration and serenity. Any experience that puts a different perspective on things can bring a positive change to our “daily life”.
♥ LØV Organic Tea
For the tea lovers! My favorite is the herbal blend “Zen” with a sweet taste of apple, orange and caramel.
♥ Hugs & Kisses
Last but not least… I think hugs and kisses are most important and better that any other gift. Give them away plenty on christmas (and any other day)!
