There is a flu going around and I was so hoping that it won’t catch me, but I guess spending a day in the train last week just was a bit too risky. The flu got me after all! At first I thought this would be a quick “visit”, because after three days I already started to feel much better. I thought that I would be back in tip top shape today, but I guess the flu found some good reason to stay a bit longer. Today I feel as bad as on the first day again. How is this even possible? That just ain’t right!
Determined to say bye-bye to the flu (and to the pale-face-red-eyes-vampire-look) once and for all, I stomped into the kitchen this morning to make a smoothie. I added ginger and all citrus fruits I could get my hands on and even added some cooled down spiced tea. “Take that, flu!” I thought to myself while the blades of the blender were spinning (getting all the anger out helps too ;-)). And out came a beautiful, bright-yellow, sunshine smoothie that tasted so refreshing that I had to share it with you.
The lovely color reminded me of the yellow clock from my grandfather that stands on my desk – both made a nice pair on the picture ;-).
I don’t know if it was the happy color or the mix of ingredients, but drinking this made me feel a bit better instantly. Fingers crossed that the flu has had enough of me soon. The weather has been too wonderful lately and I wanna go out and play!
Beat The Flu – Smoothie
(makes 2 portions)
- 2 juicy oranges
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 piece of ginger (about 5g)
- juice of 1 lemon
- 80-100 ml cooled down spiced tea (mine was a mix of fennel, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, anise and cloves)
Prepare the tea and let cool down. Peel the oranges, banana and ginger and squeeze the lemon juice. Now blend everything in a mixer and enjoy!
