Movie Snack: Salted Chocolate Popcorn (Vegan)

August 13, 2011

Hey everybody, I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Yesterday I had a fun evening with friends. We went to the movies to watch “The Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes”. Have you seen it yet? The story was somehow predictable, but I still liked it alot. But how could I not like a movie with chimpanzees, that break out of laboratories?? πŸ˜‰ Luckily the apes were all animated, so no real animals were harmed by making the movie. Big PLUS!

Something that made the movie night even more enjoyable was the snack that I brought along (yes, food makes me happy :-P). Have you ever tried salted chocolate popcorn? It’s so yummy!!!Β I know it might sound like a strange combination to some, but it actually tastes great! And it’s very simple to make as well.

Instructions:

Just fill plane popcorn in a big pot (for 4 portions about 2/3 of the bottom of the pot should be covered with corn), add a tablespoon of sunflower oil (or any fat with a neutral taste), then heat the corn and wait until all corn is popped. Shake up the pot regulary so the popcorn on the bottom doesn’t get burned. Once the popcorn is cooked, heat up about 100g of chocolate Β until melted (I used dark 85% chocolate, to make it vegan). In a big bowl, combine popcorn with chocolate and sprinkle with salt to your liking. You might want to add a little powdered sugar too, in case you also want to make it a bit sweeter. Let the popcorn cool down before serving. Tadaaa… the perfect movie snack! πŸ™‚
