I haven’t done a “Things I ♥” blog post for I a while, so I thought it’s time again, to share my newest obsessions/inspirations/habits/finds with you.
1. Happenpappen
While I visited Hamburg I stopped by at Happenpappen. It was my third visit and I just love that place. Happenpappen is a relatively new vegan Cafe run by Roman, who calls himself a hobby cook. That actually sounds like an understatement, because the food is so delicious! Their lunch menu changes every day and the place has a very cozy atmosphere to it. Almost as if you are visiting a friend at home, who loves cooking and trying out new recipes. The kitchen is open and right next to the tables, so you can watch all the kitchen action. This is what I had for lunch: “Mille Feuille with Swede-Leek-Ragout and Marjoram topped with Smoked Tofu” Now if that doesn’t look tasty I don’t know what would….
2. Oh She Glows new cookbook
I was super excited when my copy of the new cookbook of one of my favorite blogs “Oh She Glows” arrived at my doorstep. I’ve tried recipes from her blog before, part of which you can also find in the cookbook, and I was always delighted. Super tasty, healthy plant based meals in all variations… I can’t wait to try more recipes!
3. Organic Cotton towels from Grüne Erde
I’ve been looking for new organic cotton towels and found the perfect ones at “Grüne Erde“. Don’t you also love the berry color?
4. No-bake Macadamia Nut Pie
I could eat this cake every day. My friend made it (replacing the greek yoghurt with soy yoghurt) and it was a total hit! Luxurious, rich and super delicious. And the best – you don’t even have to have bad conscience eating this, because it only has healthy ingredients. You’ll have to try it to believe it! 😉
5. The first taste of summer!
I’ve spend some days in Hamburg and couldn’t believe how warm and sunny the days have been. It’s not even spring yet and it kinda feels like summer already! It does scare me a little, because I believe it’s a sign of the worlds climate changing, but apart from that I simply enjoyed every minute of the sunshine. Grab your dogs and some friends and go out in nature… I look forward to do more of that this summer!
6. Pink Beets
I picked up these lovely colored beets on the market and it’s so much fun preparing food with them. They make everything look good!
7. Morning meditation
For so long I’ve tried to meditate regularly but I never really stuck with it. And I don’t even know why, because meditation is such a powerful tool, to find your inner peace and it feels so good to let your mind drift away for some minutes each day. Luckily I found a new great way to practice meditation, which was recommended to me by a friend. I now started to do “guided meditations”. The one I’m doing right now is the 21-Day Meditation Challenge by Depak Chopra and I love it. Especially for beginners like myself, it is much easier to stay focused on the meditation when you have a voice that guides you through it.
8. Gavin DeGraw Concert
In case you don’t know this… I ♥ Gavin DeGraw’s music, very much! He is one of my favorite artists and this month has been special because he has been touring Europe. I had tickets for Hamburg and planed my trip there so that I could see his show together with some friends and family. But guess what. When we arrived at the club where he was supposed to play, a little sheet of paper had written on it that the show was cancelled because he was sick. Oh, I was so devastated! But the story took a good turn after all. I went back to Switzerland and knew that he would play in Zürich. The concert was sold out but I and my boyfriend decided to go there anyway and see if someone is selling tickets. And it turned out to be our lucky night!! Not only did we get tickets but because of a very lucky coincident we were able to get in the club first and stand right in front of the stage! It was a great show and I couldn’t stop grinning. What a lucky day! This had to go on my “What I ♥ in March 2014” list! 😀 And in case you haven’t heard Gavin DeGraw before, here is my favorite song of his:
9. Oil Pulling
Have you ever tried oil pulling? Taking about 1 teaspoon of oil in your mouth and slowly swish it around for 5-10 minutes. I’ve read a lot about it before but now I also finally tried it after a friend told me about her good experience with it. I do it in the mornings while making the bed and so on and after I spit it out my teeth feel really clean and shiny. So far I tried it with coconut and sesame oil. A great new habit I want to stick with. Read more about the benefits of oil pulling here.
10. Dogs
I know, I know… this is nothing new. It is my long time obsession and I can’t say often enough that I love dogs. Wait, make that animals – all animals! I just love them…
