I know, I know. Summer is not really the right time to be posting a hot chocolate recipe, but when it has been raining for days and you get back from your morning walk with the dog, soaking wet and freezing, it doesn’t matter what’s the season. It’s time for hot chocolate!
This time I made a version with maca powder which adds a nice nutty flavor and a little boost against stress and tiredness. I was actually just reading about maca and who would have thought that it also “improves sexual desire”. Yep, just sharing the wisdom here! π
This hot chocolate turned out so silky smooth and tasty. And you wouldn’t believe that it’s only sweetened with dates, which actually makes this pretty healthy too. So don’t hesitate to indulge β no matter the weather or season! π
Silky Hot Maca Chocolate
- 1 cup of sugar-free plant-milk (I used oat milk)
- 1 date without seed (preferably soaked in water for an hour)
- sprinkle of salt
- dash of cinnamon
- 1 tbsp chocolate powder
- 1/2 tsp maca powder
- 1/2 tsp coconut butter
- 1 heaping tsp almond butter
Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Then transfer to a small pot and heat up slowly while stirring. The almond butter will cause the hot chocolate to thicken. Take from heat before it starts boiling and fill into your favorite mug. Enjoy! π
