Happy Monday everybody! I hope you all are having a great start into the new week! A lot has happened in the garden lately, so I thoughts it’s a good time for a new update. As you might remember, last week I allready harvested the sour cherries and made jam, cake and cherry sauce of it. Also the zucchinis started to grow and I harvested the first one yesterday.
I cannot say enough how much joy it brings, to grow your own veggies. I can only recommend that you do the same if you have a little space for it. Watching the plants grow, watering and taking care of them and finally eating their fruits and vegetables creates something like inner peace that I can’t really describe. Especially today, when you read about food scandles, gene manipulation and so on, the simple things like growing vegetables all the sudden feel like something very special. I really look forward to learn and practice more of gardening in the future.
But back to the veggies…. I not only harvested my first zucchini, but also some rhubarb. Rhubarb is a vegetable that grows back every year, just like strawberries, and we were lucky that our rhubarb was allready in the garden when we moved here. Year after year we use it for either marmelade or cake. It’s really delicious!
The beans that I planted also started to grow. In our neighbourhood I saw how people used sticks to build a trellis for the beans to entwine, so I collected sticks from the forest and did the same thing. I love how it creates a country garden look. What do you think?
The pumpkin-, tomatoe- and brussels sprout plants are still growing constantly. I’m curious when they will start to grow their vegetables. On these pictures you can see how big the plants became…
